Karen Mills Obituary, Death – Niskayuna Woman Dies Peacefully at 60
Karen Marie Mills of Niskayuna, New York, passed away peacefully on September 21, 2026, surrounded by her family, shortly after celebrating her 60th birthday. Her death has left her husband, children, grandchildren, relatives, friends, and former colleagues mourning the loss of a woman remembered for her kindness, generosity, and devotion to family.
Karen was born on September 13, 1966, to George and Colleen Marcil and was raised in Cohoes, New York. Throughout her life, she developed a strong sense of family and a reputation for making the people around her feel welcomed and cared for.

Karen dedicated 34 years of her professional life to the New York State Department of Labor. During her long career, she built lasting friendships and formed meaningful connections with many of the people she worked with.
She met Douglas Mills, the love of her life, in 1984, and they married in 1989. Their 37 years together were marked by love, laughter, and devotion.
Family was at the center of Karen’s life. She especially cherished holidays and had a particular love for Christmas, when she could spend time with the people closest to her. She also enjoyed traveling and shopping and took pleasure in choosing thoughtful gifts for family and friends.
Those who knew Karen remembered her positive outlook, generosity, and ability to make others feel comfortable and valued. Her warmth extended beyond her immediate family, allowing her to form lasting friendships and connections throughout her life.

Karen is survived by her husband, Doug; daughters Megan Paradiso and her husband, Joseph, and Samantha Mills Regan and her husband, Thomas; and grandchildren Eleanor and Everett, who brought great happiness to her life.
She is also survived by her siblings, Joe and Staci, Kathy and Rich, and Colleen and Dan, along with numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, extended relatives, and friends.
Family and friends will be received at Glenville Funeral Home, 9 Glenridge Road, Glenville, on Thursday, September 24, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Saint Kateri Tekakwitha Parish on Union Street on Friday, September 25, at 9:00 a.m. Interment will follow immediately at Most Holy Redeemer in Niskayuna.
Karen’s life will be remembered through the love she gave her family, the friendships she formed, and the kindness she showed to those around her. Her legacy will continue through her husband, children, grandchildren, siblings, extended family, friends, and everyone whose life she touched.
